No, you're not the only one.
Transgender people experience a variety of legal forms of discrimination. A few U. S. States have laws that limit which restrooms people can use, with North Carolina having the worst. For transgender people who appear to be the opposite gender from what is indicated on their birth certificate and other documents, this can cause serious issues. When a trans man who has undergone hormonal transition enters a women's room, for instance, he may have a deep voice, facial hair, and other masculine features, such as a masculine-looking face. At best, this could make people uncomfortable; at worst, they may confront him, act violently or aggressively against him, or even call the police.
However, the law mandates that these individuals use the women's restroom. People are frequently left with few choices: either they risk harassment and/or violence and, at the very least, making others extremely uncomfortable, or they break the law and risk heavy fines if caught. It can be particularly challenging for those with in-the-middle gender presentation, which can include nonbinary transgender people (like me), transgender people undergoing hormonal transition, transgender people who have undergone hormonal transition but struggle to pass, and transgender people who have not undergone hormonal transition but already have a body that more closely reflects their gender identity. These individuals may appear out of place in either restroom. Trans people deal with a lot of social issue as well.
So yes, transgenders people suffer from depression, that is a fact and you really aren't the only one. I have decided to keep living my life as a trans trying to ignore others and keep up with my trans community so they form a protective shield around me.
